Gosford Park (2001)

⭐⭐⭐⭐️ / ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Intrigue. Gossip. Murder. RSVP yes to Gosford Park, streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Released in 2001, Gosford Park features a serving dish full of delightful actors including Dame Maggie Smith, Helen Mirren, Clive Owen, and Michael Gambon.

When a group of elite gather together for a weekend of hunting and scheming, no one from upstairs or downstairs is safe from wandering eyes, eager ears, and silver daggers in the back.

As a lover of “Downton Abbey”, also starring the late Dame Maggie Smith (RIP), the film is equally lush in color, detail, and characters.

It takes a bit long to get to the murder itself and it makes the red herrings a bit too obvious at times, but the secrets behind closed doors and drama in the drawing room are too tempting to care.
