Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead

This is not the type of movie that will make you believe in the good of humanity.

There’s no soft, sweet center behind the hard shells of these characters. Though, if you’d ask them, they’d 100% defend their actions. And that makes for a great character study.

Staring Philip Seymour Hoffman and Ethan Hawke as brothers (go with it), the two join together to rob a jewelry store. Their own parent’s jewelry store. And as everything that can go wrong does, these characters continue to peel back layers, showing the deepest darkest part of their rotting souls. You cheer for none of them. But in deft acting hands, there’s something truly compelling about watching bad people lose. And lose. And lose. With enough twists and turns to keep even the devil busy, this one is worth a watch.
